Betrayal will take you to the high
desert of western Wyoming, through the crags of the Rocky Mountains, and into
the hearts of two seekers learning to trust God’s love no matter the
circumstances.
Bio: Best-selling,
award-winning novelist Robin Lee Hatcher, the author of over 65 books, is known
for her heartwarming and emotionally charged stories of faith, courage, and
love. She and her husband make their home in Idaho where she enjoys spending
time with her family, her high-maintenance Papillon, Poppet, and Princess
Pinky, the DC (demon cat).
Please tell us five random things we might not know about
you.
-- As a kid, I loved to pretend to be a horse and gallop all
over the neighborhood.
-- Wearing snowshoes, I hiked several miles through the snow
with over twenty 11- and 12-year-olds (my daughters among them) into the Girl
Scout Camp where we stayed for a weekend in January. We had to get rid of mice
nests in the stacked mattresses and from under the woodstove, and the adults
had to make two more trips out to the vehicles to get the rest of our supplies.
I have always claimed this trip cancelled out every flub I made as a mom.
-- As a kid, I loved to read the Trixie Belden series. Nancy
Drew was a little too Miss-Goody-Two-Shoes for me.
-- I’ve always loved the water and, in my younger years, was
a pretty good slalom skier.
-- My favorite colors are mauve or pink and teal.
Please tell us a bit more about the plot of your novel.
It’s
the turn of the twentieth century and drifter Hugh Brennan is a man well
acquainted with betrayal. Hugh finds himself drawn to the attractive widow,
Julia, yet when he looks into her eyes, he recognizes the same hurt that haunts
him.
Julia
Grace has little reason to trust men, but she’s going to have to trust someone
if she’s to keep her ranch from the clutches of her dead husband’s
half-brother. Is it possible God had a hand in bringing Hugh to her door?
What is it about your lead character that will make your
readers care about her/him?
Both Hugh and Julia have been wounded by cruel betrayals of
people they should have been able to trust. And yet both, because of their
faith in God, are able to take the risk of learning to trust again––little by
little by little.
If you were the casting director for the film version of
your novel, who would play your lead roles?
Hugh would be played by a real-life Hugh––Hugh Jackman.
Julia would be played by Amy Adams.
Which of your favorite pastimes has had an influence on your
writing? How?
Reading novels and watching movies are two of my favorite
pastimes, and definitely both have influenced my writing because they helped
teach about storytelling, both when done well and when done not so well. I also
have a passion for history. I love to learn about new places and cultures.
What is the last novel you read that you would recommend? Why
do you recommend it?
Ooh, hate this question. I read so many great books. How do
I list just one? I can’t. At the very least, I have to do two: To Whisper Her Name by Tamera Alexander,
and A Wreath of Snow by Liz Curtis
Higgs. Both of these authors are masters at their craft. They transport me to
other times and other places and pull me completely into their story worlds.
I know what you mean. I usually answer that questions by telling them what book I'm reading at that particular time. What are you working on now?
As I answer these questions, I am about to begin revisions
of the third and final book in the Where the Heart Lives series, Beloved. The first two books took place
in a small town and on a remote ranch. Beloved
is set in the city among people of “society” and wealth. I loved the hero and
heroine from the moment I met them. I will be so eager for readers to get to
know them too.

Finally, what question would you like to ask my readers?
What is your question for my blog readers?
What's your favorite comfort
food?
Now, Robin, what are your favorite top three movies?
This is another tough question. I have many, many favorites,
and the top three would change from day to day. But here's today's top three:
The Help
An Ideal Husband
Sense & Sensibilities (Emma Thompson version)Thank you so much, Robin, for dropping by today.

I have so many comfort foods it's ridiculous. I'm such a foody but I would have to say my comfort food is potato chips ... and candy ... and mashed potatoes ... oh and pot roast. I just need to stop now. I love Robin Lee Hatcher and in fact her book "A vote of Confidence" was one of my very first historical romance reads. I so want to get the rest of the books in that series. Betrayal looks like Ms. Hatcher has continued her amazing writing style. Can't wait to read it. Thank you so much for the giveaway.

Oh my. I've had my head buried in revisions this week. Last time I looked there were only a couple of comments on this blog post, and now there are close to 50! And reading through the different comfort foods has definitely made me hungry! Hmm. Mac and cheese. No, maybe some chocolate. No, maybe I'll try the peach fried pie (that's a new one to me but I already know I would love it).
Best of luck to all of you on winning the book. And I hope all of you will get a chance to read it soon.
