Hello Lena ans Samuel. Interesting start to this book. I would like to win it. I was born in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl days. Mother said she thought I was going to die. I was born at home, of course. All of the windows were covered with quilts and still there was dust in the air. She put some Vicks Vapor-rub in my throat and I survived. She doctored all 8 of us kids with Vicks. No money for doctors. Thanks for a chance to win. Maxie , from Texas. > mac262(at)me(dot)com <

  3. Maxie, I'd like to sit down and talk with you. You've got experiences similar to some of mine. Our mom used Vicks Vapo-Rub for just about everything but appendicitis. We endured dust storms during the drought years of the early fifties that old-timers said were similar to those of the thirties. No fun, but we got thru it, certainly with God's help.
