FIREFLY SUMMER - Kathleen Y'Barbo - One Free Ebook

Dear Readers, I’m happy to share Kathleen Y’Barbo’s latest book with you today. Kathleen and I have been very good friends for about two decades. I love to spend time with her, and I’m eager to read each new book release. I think you will be, too.

Welcome back, Kathleen. Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
My first book, Yellow Roses, came out in 2000, so I am celebrating 15 years as a published author this year. I wrote contemporary and historical fiction, sometimes with a Southern accent and other times with a dash of steampunk. I’m an expatriate Texan cheering on her beloved Texas Aggies from north of the Red River.                                                                                                                                             How did you become interested in writing?
I read. A lot. Readers are potential writers, in my opinion. On April 26, 1996, I decided to write a book. I’m still writing books.

What compelled you to write a book on this subject?
It’s my mother’s fault. She’s such fun to write about!

What is the main theme or point that you want readers to understand from reading your book? Are there any other themes present in the book?
Forgiveness doesn’t just extend to those who hurt us. We are also called to forgive ourselves.

Are there some specific lessons you hope readers will learn and apply to their lives after reading your book?
I would give the same answer here as above. Forgiveness extends not only to others but to yourself.

What makes your book different than any other books similar to yours that are in circulation today?
I promise this is the only book on the market today that is written about my mama, Bonnie Sue. Or at least I’m pretty sure of this!

How does the book intertwine with God’s call on your life and how you are currently serving Him?Like Sessa Chambers, I am doing my best to serve God while attending to the responsibilities He has given me.

Please tell us about the book.
A new cowboy romance from award-winning author Kathleen Y'Barbo.

Trey’s biggest challenge isn’t performing surgery…it’s restoring Sessa’s heart!

Artist Sessa Chambers may never recover from losing her prodigal son. Even as she grieves the tragic decisions that led to his death, and left her with a toddler to raise, she’s asked to work on her dream project—restoring carousel horses for the Smithsonian. But she can’t do it on her own…

Dr. Trey Brown can’t pick up a scalpel again. Yes, he acted in self-defense, but the events of that awful night haunt him. He was trained to save lives, not take them. When he goes to the young man’s widowed mother to apologize, she’s not at all what he expected. For one thing, she’s not as alone as he thought—not with the fearsome ladies of the Pies, Books, and Jesus Book Club in her corner. For another, she’s beautiful, and being in her presence is more jolting than any eight-second bronco ride from his former rodeo days. Before he knows it, she’s captured his heart as easily as they capture the fireflies gracing Sessa’s Texas ranch.
How can they overcome their past to embrace a future together?
Do you have a favorite Scripture verse?
Habukkuk 2:2-3 And then God answered: “Write this.
    Write what you see.
Write it out in big block letters
so that it can be read on the run.
This vision-message is a witness
    pointing to what’s coming.
It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait!
    And it doesn’t lie.
If it seems slow in coming, wait.
It’s on its way. It will come right on time.
I love that passage, too. When you are not writing, what do you like to do? Do you have any hobbies?
Road trips in the Mini with the top down and my hunky hubby at the wheel are a favorite pastime.
As we close, is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to offer a huge thank-you to you, Lena, and to my readers!

  12. I love the cover and title but we always called them lightning bugs in KY. I also appreciate your comment 'Forgiveness doesn’t just extend to those who hurt us. We are also called to forgive ourselves.' I think that it is sometimes harder to forgive ourselves!

  15. We call them lightning bugs in Texas, too. In fact, this story was called Lightning in a Jar until it was renamed for publication.

  16. Kathleen I love the message on forgiveness. As a former single mom I found that to be really rough. I blamed and blamed myself for so much. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself and your writing life.

  17. What an awesome verse for a writer! And in such an obscure book of the Bible. Not many people are quoting from Habakkuk! Would love to win the book!
