Welcome, Wanda. What would you like for our readers to know about you personally?
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loves the Lord and wants to glorify Him in everything I write. My passion for writing Amish novels and cookbooks comes from knowing and loving our many dear Amish friends.
Tell us about your family.
My husband, Richard, and I have two grown children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Richard grew up in a Mennonite church, and from our ties with Mennonite friends and relatives, many years ago we got to know some Amish people. Now, having so many close Amish friends, we think of them as family.
Have you written other nonfiction books?
Yes, I have several other cookbooks, as well as two devotionals, a gift book and two perpetual calendars that I collaborated on with my husband.
Do you have any other books in the works right now?
I am currently finishing up with a novella that will go in a
collection with 2 other stories—one written by my daughter-in-law, Jean, and
the 3rd story by my granddaughter, Richelle. When the novella is done, I’ll
begin writing the first book in a new series set in
What kinds of hobbies and leisure activities do you enjoy?
My husband and I both enjoy bird-watching, photography, gardening, and looking for shells on the beach. I’m also a ventriloquist and enjoy entertaining both children and adults with several of my puppets and ventriloquist figures.
Why did you write the featured book?
I believe many people would like to get back to the basics of cooking, and the recipes in my Amish Friends Farmhouse Favorites Cookbook will give readers an opportunity to do just that. My husband and I have had the pleasure of eating meals in many of our Amish friends’ homes and have never come away disappointed or hungry.
What do you want the reader to take away from the book?
I hope those who acquire the cookbook will enjoy the variety of delicious recipes that are served in Amish homes—either for family meals or at various community events. It’s always fun to try new recipes—especially those that are made with basic, simple ingredients.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell my readers about you or your book?
I, like my Amish friends, believe that the experience we share in eating good food goes hand in hand with the joy of fellowshipping around the table. I love spending time with my family and friends, and it’s even more special when we are sharing a meal together.
Yes, breaking bread with family and friends is an important part of our lives. James and I enjoy it so much. Please give us the first page or two from the book. Since this is a cookbook, Barbour Publishing sent me two recipes pages to include here.
Where on the Internet can the readers find you?
I can be found on my website: www.wandabrunstetter.com; on several Facebook pages, including my Wanda E. Brunstetter fan page; on Pinterest, YouTube, and Twitter.
Thank you, Wanda, for
