HOW TO WORSHIP A KING - Zach Neese - Free Book

I met Zach's wife about nine years ago when we were in a Ladies' Life Group together. I've loved Jen for a long time. Then I became acquainted with Zach. I've told him often that he writes the songs that my heart feels. And they are the songs of his heart toward God. Probably, your church uses many of the songs he's written. The most important thing to me is that the Zach I know, and the Zach portrayed in this blog and in the book are one and the same. He is a lover of God, a loving husband, a wonderful father, a humble man full of the Spirit of God. I am truly blessed to call him my friend.

Welcome, Zach. What would you like for our readers to know about you personally?
I am a pretty normal guy. Maybe what makes me unusual is that I really believe that God loves me (even though I don’t deserve it). That realization colors everything that I think and do and charges me to respond to Him and to the world differently than I used to.

I find it impossible to forget the cross of Jesus, and I take it very personally. The cross is why I lead worship, teach, pastor, write – why I love my wife and kids the way that I do, and why I pursue God the way that I do. Jesus proved that He loved me – to the death. The least I can do for Him is love Him with my life.

I think that our friendship is based upon mutual adoration.

Tell us about your family.
My family is a testament to the forgiveness and grace of God. My parents prayed for me and tried to teach me God’s ways, but I was very rebellious. I wallowed in willfulness. And I hurt people in the process. For God to trust me with the heart of one of His daughters is a demonstration of His unmerited favor. And He did not give me a woman that I deserved, He gave me a wife that He hoped I would grow to deserve. My wife, Jen, is a beautiful, graceful, godly, woman and my friend. We have six kids, two boys (Sim and Sam) and four girls (Judah, Charis, Maggie, and Nora). My family is my little church, and I love being with them more than being with anyone else in the world.

Have you written other nonfiction books?
This is my first book, but I have been writing and teaching for twenty years. I used to write both fiction and poetry, then God helped me combine my love of music and language into a penchant for songwriting. I have taken part in dozens of CD projects, but in 2011 I released my first solo project, “God and King.”

Now God has me writing books. I’ve known for years that God wanted me to write How to Worship a King, but I never knew how to go about it. Finally I felt like He said, “When are you going to do what I told you to do?” So I just sat down and did it. I pray that it is the first of many.

Do you have any other books in the works right now?
I am not writing (books) at the moment, but I have two exciting books mapped out in my head. When God is ready (and I have recovered from this one), I’ll have more to say on the subject.

What kinds of hobbies and leisure activities do you enjoy?
Because I’m Dad to six little ones, I have a tendency to submit my time to their preferences. So my hobbies are playing pirates, Barbies, airsoft wars, tickle time, catching frogs, protecting princesses, and vanquishing villains. I also enjoy dates with my wife, reading, and nature. I used to be more interesting, but now I’m just a homebody.

Why did you write the featured book?
I wrote this because the devil has robbed Christians of the benefits and the blessing of biblical worship. We’ve been crippled and had our destinies held at arms length. I’ve spent years looking for the book on worship that I really wanted to read. No one ever wrote it. So I gave it a shot.

What do you want the reader to take away from the book?
I want to empower readers to fulfill their destinies in Christ. I want to ignite their passion for fulfilling their God-given calling to transform the world by ministering to the heart of God. We have had a tendency to relegate “worship ministry” to platform personalities and musicians. But worship is part of the inheritance of every child of God. It is the ministry of every believer. Every blood-bought one of us has the right and the anointing to minister to God and to lead others into His presence. What would happen if every believer in the world believed that? If every one of us lived the life of a “worship leader” – worshiping God and helping other people to worship God? When the Church embraces this biblical teaching, it will change the way we look at almost everything. And my hope is that “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

I agree with you wholeheartedly that God's people have been robbed of the ability/understanding to worship Him fully. I can't wait to read more!

Sarah from Metro Detroit. I'm a city girl with a country heart.I am the mother of 3 and wife of 1. I support my family in their curiosities and adventures while trying to create some for us all to share on a shoestring! I want to be a more productive Christ follower... disciplined + dependent, until now I keep getting in the way! Here's to changing that equation!

I have craved reading your book ever since I heard only a small bit from it in a bible class that no longer exists. I am a mother of 3 boys and so very dedicated to teaching them how to live with Christ always beside you and confident in themselves especially when facing some of the horrible things kids say to each other now days. I would truly be so greatful to have a copy of your book to not only satisfy the desire I have just from hearing that one piece, but to also aid in my continual teachings of Christ to my boys. Thank you.

I saw you on with Joni, Table Talk, discussing the tabernacle and what it means for us today. I was so touched by it and heard things I had never heard. It so stirred my heart, I told my daughter about it and can't wait to share with others. I have never really understood fully all about the tabernacle but it was just like the " eyes of my heart were opened" that early morning ( 1am ) as you explained and I felt such an anointing. I just don't understand how some people can sit in church and not worship our King! Anxious to get your book too.

I am now ready to learn more....Holy Spirit is telling me to learn more...I am teaching a group of intercessors in a bible study. God is calling us into a deeper place.
