GROOM BY ARRANGEMENT - Rhonda Gibson - One Free Book

What are some of the spiritual themes you like to write about?
Forgiveness, fear, and love

What other books of yours are coming out soon?
My next title is, Taming The Texas Rancher. It comes out in October 2013. This book is Hannah’s story from The Marshal’s Promise.

I’m going to book the October book on my blog right now. If you could spend an evening with one contemporary person (not a family member of yours), who would it be and why?
Joyce Meyers… Her teachings have taught me so much and I’d love to just sit and visit with her.  I believe she is a mighty woman of God.

What historical person would you like to meet (besides Jesus) and why?
Wow! There are so many, I would like to meet I would love to meet David, he was a man after God’s own heart… that is all the reason I need J

How can you encourage authors who have been receiving only rejections from publishers?
That’s a hard one Lena, because I’ve been there. I would tell them to keep on pressing on. Even after you are published, rejections will come but if you keep submitting, God will place your book in the right hands.

Tell us about the featured book.
Groom by Arrangement is Eliza Kelly’s story. She was in The Marshal’s Promise. I love Eliza because she’s a lot like me. It’s also Jackson Hart’s story. He is a handsome blacksmith with a desire to find family and home. This is their story, it is filled with heartbreak and laughter. I hope the readers will enjoy it.

Please give us the first page of the book.

Eliza Kelly’s worse fear had just been confirmed.

She couldn’t believe she was standing on the train platform waiting for a mail-order groom. One she hadn’t ordered!

With shaking fingers Eliza opened the envelope and pulled out the slip of paper inside. Once more, her eyes scanned the letter that explained how her best friend, Hannah Young had ordered the expected groom.

My Dear Friend Eliza,
I know this will come as a shock to you but I have been writing as you, to a Mr. Miles Thatcher. He posted a mail-order bride ad in the same newspaper as my own prospective groom, Mr. Westland. After reading his ad, I answered as you.

Eliza, I think you will like Mr. Thatcher. He will be
arriving on the two o’clock train this afternoon. Before you close your mind to the possibility of being a mail-order bride, know that I’ve prayed about this and feel I did the right thing in answering Mr. Thatcher’s advertisement. Granted I should have told you. For not doing so, I apologize now.

After you read his letters, you can decide if he is a man
that you will enjoy spending the rest of your life with. If you decide to send him away, I promise to never do this again.

I’ll write once I get to Granite, Texas. I’m looking forward to hearing how you and Mr. Thatcher get along.

Sincerely,
Your friend,

Hannah

I love this story. You have the best story ideas of any one I've read. Thanks Lena, for your blog featuring authors. Enjoyed this. Rhonda, this is a series, right? Does the series have a name? Or are the books stand-alones?

This looks like a great start to a story. I would love to read the rest of the book.

Thank you, thank you Everyone!!!

Yes, Jean this is a series but doesn't have a series name. All the books are stand-alone so if you have a character in mine, ask me about them... they might just be in a past book or coming in a future one :) Great question Jean... thanks for asking.

Hi Rhonda so nice to see you here with Lena, I love to read the interviews and yours in a good one. I am anxious to read this story of Eliza...
Is is hard for you to take a character from one book and write their very own story in a new book. Do some of the other characters come along too.
thanks for sharing

Hi Paula, for me it isn't hard to write the next characters story because they bug me all through the story they are introduced in. LOL Other writers might disagree.

In the first book, The Marshal's Promise, Eliza and Hannah become Rebecca's best friends, in Groom by Arrangement, Rebecca is there to help Eliza, in Hannah's story Taming The Texas Rancher Hannah is alone but she thinks about the other two alot.

Then in the book I am working on now, that hasn't sold yet, Millie is the heroine and she's in Groom by Arrangement and Hannah is in it .

What an interesting sounding book. I like the idea of a mail-order groom. Good way to stand a "normal" story on end.
