CRITICAL ALLIANCE - Elizabeth Goddard - One Free Book

Welcome back Elizabeth. Tell us a little about yourself and your background. I’m a 7th generation Texan, but currently make my home in Washington State with my husband. I have four adult children, and two still live with us.

How did you become interested in writing? I think I’ve always wanted to be a writer—that dream was always inside of me—but it wasn’t until I stayed home with my first child (after a career in software sales) that I started thinking about writing seriously. In 2001 I attended my first writer’s conference and never looked back.

What compelled you to write a book on this subject? Critical Alliance is part of a three-book series called Rocky Mountain Courage. Since I have a computer science degree, and cybercrime is constantly in the news, I thought it was time to tackle the topic of hacking and cybercriminals.

What is the main theme or point that you want readers to understand from reading your book? Are there any other themes present in the book?  The main theme is about going home, forgiving, and trusting God. I think I write a little of all these themes in just about every book.

Are there some specific lessons you hope readers will learn and apply to their lives after reading your book? I hope to raise awareness regarding cyber-crimes and how hackers can affect every aspect of our lives now that technology, though useful, in many ways has invaded our world.

What makes your book different from any other books similar to yours that are in circulation today? I think that all books are different from the simple fact that a different person wrote them. My story is different simply because it’s MY story to tell.

How does the book intertwine with God’s call on your life and how you are currently serving Him? God called me to write, and my characters are Christians and are in different places in their walk with God. I write all my books from a Christian worldview, and that’s how I serve God.

Do you have a favorite Scripture verse? My favorites change and right now, the scripture verse I think on often and I see everywhere is: To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

When you are not writing, what do you like to do? Do you have any hobbies? Ha ha! I would love to have hobbies, but I write for two publishers, and it seems like life is always “interfering” with actual writing. I’m trying to set aside time to “smell the roses” and right now, since we live in beautiful Washington State, every weekend we enjoy hiking.

Tell us about the book. After receiving a cryptic message, Mackenzie Hanson returns to Montana to secure exposed assets, close security breaches and save lives at her father’s tech company. She crosses paths with Diplomatic Security Services special agent Alex Knight who is drawn into the mysterious circumstances that include suspicious deaths, lethal threats, and whispers of espionage. When the situation turns deadly, Alex and Mackenzie will have to work together to find the answers they need—before someone silences Mackenzie for good.

Please give us the first page of the book.

Her world was spinning out of control. Correction. Not her world—her body. But what else could Mackenzie Hanson expect while in the grip of a colossal gyrating octopus? A cephalopod built from a jumble of plastic and metal parts, and powered by a smelly, backfiring motor. All of it quickly bolted together to be ready for patrons visiting the traveling carnival.

She imagined a tentacle flying off. How safe was she, really? Her stomach grew queasy with the spinning and rocking motion.

Sky. People. Balloons. Asphalt. Sky. People. Balloons. Asphalt.

Over and over and over.

Mackenzie squeezed her eyes shut. But for the brief time she’d kept them open . . .

She might have been hallucinating. Could centrifugal force cause hallucinations?

She thought she’d seen . . . No. It was only someone who looked like Julian.

As we close, is there anything else you would like to add?

I hope readers enjoy Critical Alliance. Thank you for having me!

I always enjoy Elizabeth Goddard’s suspense! Since she writes for two publishers, it seems like she always has something new out there for us suspense lovers to relish. I sure hope it’s a lot cooler in Washington state than it is here in central Texas. We’s had triple digit temps every day and no rain in sight. It’s been a brutally hot summer!
