What would you like for our readers to know about you
personally?
I’m an Air Force wife with 2 young daughters. Besides
writing and reading I especially enjoy crocheting, photography, and
traveling…all for, of, or with my family. God has blessed my life so much I
could fill an encyclopedia!
Today, we're featuring a nonfiction title. Welcome, Elizabeth. Tell us about your family.
My husband is a Major in the Air Force JAG Corps. He is my
best friend and an amazing husband and father. My oldest daughter, Felicity, is
4 and she’s very bright and pours over books like no child I’ve ever seen. We
are in our first year of homeschooling and we are really enjoying our time
together. Mercy turned 1 in early September. Since her birth (Daddy “caught”
her in the bathroom with our midwife on the phone and on the way to our house)
our family has been filled with more humor and laughter than we ever expected
out of a baby! Davis & I feel exceedingly blessed with our girlies.
Have you written other nonfiction books?
No, I haven’t.
Do you have any other books in the works right now?
Yes. I am currently moving back into Fiction and working on
a contemporary women’s book currently titled Crimson Shore.
What kinds of hobbies and leisure activities do you enjoy?
If I ever have any time I really just want to sit and read!
I love to decorate and craft really neat, personal things for our home and use
family art as inspiration…especially photographs of my girls.
Why did you write the featured book?
Since I was about 12 years old I’ve said that I would write
my grandma’s story. I just loved to hear her talk about her life, growing up in
the Depression and writing was my first love. My great-great grandma’s life was
written about & I wanted to carry on some tradition of that also. Amish
people have very little to memorialize their lives. Few photos and no
videos…mostly just word of mouth stories. I wanted this book to be a treasure
for our family and, with the encouragement of a writing mentor and critique
group, I am marketing it to the general public also. I think the beauty of
God’s faithfulness in her life can touch a lot of hearts.
What do you want the reader to take away from the book?
I really hope that people will recognize where God has been
faithful in their own lives. Liddy goes through so much in her young life and
in writing it I was able to then see the fingerprints of God all over my life
in an even more vivid way. In addition, I’d love to share with readers more
about the Amish way of life.
