MY DASHING BILLIONAIRE - Katie Evergreen - One Free Ebook

Welcome back, Katie. What are some of the spiritual themes you like to write about?
I love to fill my readers full of hope. I think that hope is such an important thing to have. It allows us to reach for our dreams, to always keep striving for what we believe in.

Then there’s compassion. If we can be compassionate towards others and ourselves then the world could be a peaceful place. I think self-compassion is so important, especially in the age of social media where everyone looks perfect. Allow yourself to love yourself.

That is so true. What other books of yours are coming out soon?
The next two books in My Billionaire A-Z series are due out before the end of the year: My Heroic Billionaire and My Idyllic Billionaire. I’m so excited for you to be able to read both of these books. Keep an eye on my webpage for more details.

If you could spend an evening with one contemporary person (not a family member of yours), who would it be and why?
I would absolutely love to meet Phoebe Waller Bridge, she’s an acclaimed screenwriter who wrote Killing Eve, Fleabag, and has been writing the new James Bond. She comes across as down to earth, immensely clever, and oh so funny. I think an evening with her would be magical.

What historical person would you like to meet and why?
I would love to meet Jane Austin. Her books were full of wit and so well written. I think she would provide an entertaining meeting and could help me craft my romance writing down to a tee.

How can you encourage authors who have been receiving only rejections from publishers?
To keep writing. Nothing helps us become better writers than practice. And try not to feel disheartened. Perhaps your book is just not right for that particular person. All writers receive rejections. Just as all jobs have an interview process, so does getting an agent or a publisher. I think as writers we don’t like to talk about rejection because it feels as though it is a failure, whereas in other professions it’s more openly discussed. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it shows hard work and determination.

Yes, authors need to learn that rejections aren’t personal and aren’t really saying your writing isn’t good. So many things can cause the rejection. Maybe they recently contracted a book with a similar story and other things like that. Tell us about the featured book.
My Dashing Billionaire is set in the wonderful City of London. It features a royal, Edward, and a budding artist, Everly. There is intrigue, a splash of thrills, lots of famous locations, and of course the romance. I loved writing about Edward and Everly, they came to life so eagerly on the page.
Here's the blurb:
Naïve young painter Everly Simpson has won the chance of a lifetime—an opportunity to study at the most prestigious art college in London. Traveling alone, all the way from her home town in Kansas, Everly has to battle not only homesickness and loneliness, but also a fellow artist determined to sabotage her work. It’s almost enough to send her home, until she comes face to face with the dashing patron of the college—a man who admires her as much as her talent.

Thirty-first in line to the British throne, Edward Harrington has a problem. Every year, his charity finances an art scholarship to find an undiscovered new talent, but this year he has fallen for one of the artists. Can he remain impartial and distant? And can he convince the royal household that a poor American girl is worthy of his love?

A painter thrown into a world she doesn’t know, who finds love in the most unlikely of subjects. A man whose family have already lined him up with a suitable woman, who yearns for freedom. A secret romance that could rock the very fabric of the royal household. With everything to play for, and everything to lose, what kind of future will they paint for themselves?

The fourth in the acclaimed My Billionaire A-Z, a clean billionaire romance series, My Dashing Billionaire takes you to the heart of Britain—tea, scones, and plenty of romance.

I’m eager to read this book for a number of reasons. The top two are that my youngest great-granddaughter is named Everly, and I love to read about royals. Please give us the first page of the book.
Everly Simpson ducked her head against the rain as she ran toward the gallery. She had only been in London for a fortnight, but she still hadn’t worked out the maps for the underground, and she was battling against the time. She reached the grand flight of red brick steps and jogged up them as best she could in her sparkly silver heels, pushing through the revolving door at the top. Everly shook the rain from her jacket and took a moment to get her breath back. Nobody else in the gallery looked phased by the rain. They looked prepared for every weather eventuality.

And so they should, Everly thought as she smiled to herself. They’re British.

It was midwinter, the beginning of January, and in the last two weeks alone Everly had witnessed rain that made her normally thick, dark-brown, silken hair turn as stiff as a paintbrush, hail hard enough to knock her sideways, strong winds which had almost whipped her portfolio out from her hands, and sun bright enough to burn her already golden skin. It was a far cry from Colby, Kansas, whose weather system was as predictable as its road system.

MY CHRISTMAS BILLIONAIRE - Katie Evergreen - One Free Ebook

Welcome back, Katie. God has really been moving in your writing life. What do you see on the horizon?
Thank you. Yes. I have a new book in the planning stages; My Heroic Billionaire. And my website has been going through a revamp so I’m looking to build more on that.

But also some more family time. It’s the summer holidays here in the UK so I’ve been spending less time looking at my screen and more time having cuddles with them.

Tell us a little about your family.
We’re a very close family. I live in the same city as my family and so I see my parents and my brother’s family at least a few times a week. My young daughter and I live with our cat, Pepper. It’s lovely having such a close family who live nearby. I know I’m very lucky.

Has your writing changed your reading habits? If so, how?
I think it probably has. I love reading a good romance novel, however, if I’m in the middle of writing or planning one, then I have to steer clear of the romance and read something else. I love that reading counts as work though. Because I believe a good writer cannot be a good writer without first being a reader.

I so agree. I sometimes have a person approach me, telling me they want to write a book, and when I ask them if the read, they say no. What are you working on right now?
The eighth book in my Billionaire A-Z series; My Heroic Billionaire. That’s in the planning stages. I’m also working on a women’s fiction novel for the Romantic Novelists Association that I was lucky enough to join at the beginning of the year.

What outside interests do you have?
I do a lot of yoga and a lot of creative activities to take my mind away from the constant buzz of work. My daughter and I love swimming, especially wild swimming. And I have recently taken up crochet. Watch this space!

How do you choose your settings for each book?
I think once I’ve decided on the plot of the book, the setting really decides itself. Whether it’s a castle because I need a haunted location, or a small town because I need it to match my young sweethearts.

If you could spend an evening with one historical person, who would it be and why?
I would love to spend some time with Jane Austen, romance writer extraordinaire. I would imagine her to be full of wit and wonder because she wrote with such grace.

What is the one thing you wish you had known before you started writing novels?
That my brain would never be still! I am now always thinking of new plots, having character dialogues in my head, wondering if there are plot holes anywhere. It’s constant. I think I’d enjoy the peace more while I could!

What new lessons is the Lord teaching you right now?
To stay compassionate. Sometimes it’s hard to when there is so much going on. But we must always try to give a piece of ourselves to helping others feel good. It will not only help the other person, but also increase our own well-being.

What are the three best things you can tell other authors to do to be successful?
Write. Write. Write! No, but seriously, the more you write, the better you become. You can’t expect to start writing one day and produce a masterpiece immediately. It takes lots of practice. Also, to allow yourself time off. It’s very easy to work every hour God sends because your laptop or notebook is always available. But try not to. Lastly, read as much as you can in the genre you would like to write in. It’s invaluable.

Tell us about the featured book.
My Christmas Billionaire is the third in My Billionaire A-Z series. It follows Christian and Merry as they work in Christian’s failing NYC department store over one snowy Christmas. Together they discover the magic of Christmas (with a little help from Santa!)

Please give us the first page of the book.
“Welcome to Christmas at Carroll’s! It’s the happiest time of year!”

Merry Sinclair charged up her warmest smile, offering it to the young couple who had just walked through the door. She could see their relief as they caught the blast of hot air that blew down from the vent above, their cheeks glowing beneath their matching red pom-pommed reindeer hats. It was mid-December, and New York was in the grip of a fierce cold snap that was even now battering the streets with hail and sleet. It was already dark outside, and the department store was an island of light and warmth in the storm, with strings of lights in every window, and Bing Crosby’s smooth voice pouring from the speakers overhead.

Carroll’s was one of the most famous department stores in the world. And it was most famous for being the place to shop during the holidays. People streamed in from 5th Avenue from morning until night, from Halloween to New Year’s, marveling at the hundred-foot Douglas Fir that stood in the wide atrium, decked with over ten thousand fairy lights and a bedazzling golden star. It really was a sight to behold, and Merry had visited countless times over the years to marvel at the decorations and shop for Christmas bargains.

MY BEREAVED BILLIONAIRE - Katie Evergreen - One Free Ebook

Dear Readers, This is a good beach read or for when you just want to unwind with an interesting romance. I highly recommend it.

Welcome back, Katie. Why do you write the kind of books you do?
I love romance. I have always loved the idea of a happy ending. I think that love gives us hope, and hope gives us love and that the intertwining of the two amazing feelings is such a wonderful thing. I love to be able to immerse myself and my readers in such a world where love and hope exist.

I so agree. Besides when you came to know the Lord, what is the happiest day in your life?
The day my daughter was born. She has made my life complete. She is seven now and keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How has being published changed your life?
Being a published writer was a long-held dream of mine. I think, now I am published, I feel as though I belong. It has been a lot of hard work and is still a lot of hard work. But it’s a job that I love and being able to do what I love for a living has been life changing.

It has for me, too. What are you reading right now?
I am currently reading The Power by Naomi Alderman. It was recommended to me by a friend and I am absolutely loving it. What can happen when women take control is a very powerful concept—hence the title, I guess.

What is your current work in progress?
I am working on the next book in My A-Z Billionaire series. I am on letter H and will be revealing the title to my readers in my next newsletter.

What would be your dream vacation?
The Maldives. That is one box I haven’t ticked yet, but I will do one day. Those perfect aqua seas and golden sand. I’d love to stay in one of the bungalows on stilts in the water and swim every morning with the tropical fish.

Sounds wonderful now that we in Texas are nearing triple temperatures. How do you choose your settings for each book?
The settings come to me as I’m plotting. For example, I knew My Ghostly Billionaire needed to be somewhere remote and isolated. So I carried out some research and came up with the Scottish Highlands which was perfect. I don’t necessarily decide on a plot or a location first, they seem to appear together.

If you could spend an evening with one person who is currently alive, who would it be and why?
I would absolutely love to spend an evening with Cecelia Ahern. I think her books are magical, and I could talk to her for hours about how she comes up with her ideas, what her writing process looks like, and just generally act all fan girl-ish. I think she would be a fun person to meet with.

What are your hobbies, besides writing and reading?
I love to bake. I will bake a cake or loaf or cookies most weeks. And I cook all meals from scratch. So if I’m not writing, you will find me in the kitchen, probably covered in (gluten free) flour!

What is your most difficult writing obstacle, and how do you overcome it?
Procrastination. I find it really hard to settle down and start writing in the mornings. I need to check Facebook, emails, Instagram, and make numerous cups of tea before I feel ready to start. Once I’m in the flow of it I’m okay, but it’s that first step I find the biggest hurdle.

What advice would you give to a beginning author?
Keep writing. Writing is like all other creative fields. The more you practice the easier it gets. You wouldn’t expect to sit down at a piano and be able to play Mozart straight off. The same applies for writing. Write. Write. Write.

Tell us about the featured book.
My Bereaved Billionaire is the second in My A-Z Billionaire Series. It follows the story of Nate who set up a dating website and had to create a pretend wife to obtain funding for it. The story meets Nate as he is preparing to bury his pretend wife so he can live the life he wants to without having to lie.

It’s a story of love at first sight, of family values, and of learning how important open communication and truth are in relationships.

Please give us the first page of the book.
Liberty Reynolds sighed as the guest bell rang out from the lobby.  She tried to tame her corkscrew curls back into their hair band but after a day of changing beds little blonde ringlets were poking out all over the place. Giving up she took a deep breath and swung open the door to the reception hall.

“Welcome to Pebble Cove Motel. How can I help you?” Liberty’s voice sang as she tried to beam her widest smile.

With the latest pair of guests happily ensconced in their little sea-view ensuite room, Liberty trudged wearily back down the three flights of stairs, through the door at the reception desk, and into the tiny office that lay behind.

MY ANTISOCIAL BILLIONAIRE - Katie Evergreen - One Free Ebook

Welcome, Katie. Tell us how much of yourself you write into your characters.
All of my books have an element of me in them, I always believe in write what you know. But other than little snippets of overheard conversations, or descriptions of places I’ve visited, they’re mostly just built on feelings that I’ve felt at some point or another in my life. There are no characters based on people I know!

What is the quirkiest thing you have ever done?
I’ve danced on stage with Jason Donovan! In Ibiza when I was 21. I’m not sure I was supposed to be on the stage, mind you!

When did you first discover that you were a writer?
From a very early age. I’ve been writing since I could hold a pen. My parents still have books that I fashioned out of folded paper and sticky tape. Mostly picture books from that age, but as soon as I could reel off a story, I would.

Tell us the range of the kinds of books you enjoy reading.
I am currently reading The Corset by Laura Purcell as my downstairs book, and Normal People by Sally Rooney as my upstairs book. I am also enjoying The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield on my Kindle. I like to have a lot of books on the go at once!

I love anything with a gothic twist, or a good literary novel. I also absolutely love anything romantic, but I tend to steer clear of reading those while I’m writing so I don’t get too absorbed in a different romance when I need to be focusing on my own (writing—not real).

How do you keep your sanity in our run, run, run world?
By reading! I love settling down with a good book as it feels as though I’m taken to a different world where I can forget about deadlines and editing, and the internet. I also love to walk, I’m lucky where I live in that the beach is only a 30-minute drive. So, I love to walk along the sand and listen to the waves.

Oh, yeah. The sound of the waves is so soothing. How do you choose your characters’ names?
They chose them themselves! It sounds weird, but once I character outline and know the person inside out, if I chose a name the character doesn’t agree with, I find they hamper my fingers on the keys. The names tend to come to me mid-way through the character outlining.

In one book, I gave a character a first name, and about every third time I wrote about him, it came out a different name. I finally gave up and changed all the other names to the one he wanted. What is the accomplishment that you are most proud of?
My Billionaire A-Z Series. I have had such lovely feedback from my readers that it makes me proud every time I look at the books for sale. I think the readers really do make writing such a wonderful job and as long as they are loving my books, I will carry on writing them, and feeling proud with each one I write.

If you were an animal, which one would you be, and why?
I was going to say cat as they’re my favourite animals, but I think actually I would like to be a spider. I love people watching, and as a spider I could sit in the corner of the room and people watch without being as annoying as a fly on the wall. I’m a bit of a spider phobic, so it’s a strange choice for me really. But the more I think about it, the more fun I think it would be.

What is your favorite food?
I absolutely love berries. I could eat a tray of raspberries in one sitting, and pomegranate seeds, and blueberries. They’re my absolute favourite.

What is the problem with writing that was your greatest roadblock, and how did you overcome it?
I am the world’s greatest procrastinator. If I’m sitting down to write I will check Facebook, Twitter, have a gander at the news, and then make at least three cups of tea before I even open my writing software. I overcame this by learning how to write in “sprints.” This is a bit like the Pomodoro Technique, in that I’m productive for 15 minutes at a time and within that 15 minutes all I do is write, write, write.

Tell us about the featured book.
My Antisocial Billionaire is the first in the My Billionaire A-Z series. I wanted to start the series off with an exciting, wonderfully romantic story with characters that my readers would hopefully fall in love with. Something to make people want to read through the rest of the series, all the way to Z.

It is the sweet story of Ellie May and Blake, who find love despite the most difficult of situations. They both know that by being together they risk everything. But sometimes you have to risk it all to find out what truly matters.

Please give us the first page of the book.
Blake Fielding gently closed his laptop. The blood had drained from his face, turning his usually olive skin ashen. Five people stared at him from the other side of the wide boardroom table, their eyes cold, their mouths thin, hard lines.

“I don’t know how this happened,” he said, trying to keep his voice calm. His hands were shaking so much he had to rest them on the shiny walnut veneer. It was the truth, he didn’t know how this had happened. It was impossible. Every single Heartbook account was secure. But as the founder of the multi-billion-dollar social media network, his account had been triple-locked. Nobody on the planet should have been able to breach it, yet that very morning…

Way to leave my blog readers wanting more! How can readers find you on the Internet?
