On purpose very little, but I seem to find myself in them.
Especially the flaws. Hmm.
What is the quirkiest
thing you have ever done?
Threw a surprise retirement party for my sweet hubby. (Pray
for that man : ) Since the dates were so close, I got my good friend to get my
husband to plan a surprise birthday party for me not knowing he was planning
his own party. He even cleaned the house for his own retirement party. He
hasn’t let me forget that one yet.
(Actually, I could share a few other quirky things, but I won't.) When did you first
discover that you were a writer?
I am a late bloomer. Played with it a little in high school,
but back in the day we only read books by authors long dead. So it was never an
idea I had of something that I could or should do.
Tell us the range of
the kinds of books you enjoy reading.
I do like action with believable characters. Love
historicals set in the Old West.
How do you keep your
sanity in our run, run, run world?
Oh, were we supposed to keep that? Seriously,
the only way to keep sane in this crazy world is through Jesus Christ. He is
the wind in my sails, and the life in my blood.
Without Him, I am nothing and lost.
How do you choose
your characters’ names?
They just fall out of the air into my head. I am a
seat-of-the-pants writer so I am often surprised by my characters.
Sometimes I do have to change the names later.
What is the
accomplishment that you are most proud of?
I think when I really got serious about writing and decided
to finish a book rather than start a new one each week. : )
If you were an
animal, which one would you be, and why?
I love horses, the idea of galloping across the land sounds
delightful to me. I even cry when I watch Secretariat win that last race.
What is your favorite
food?
Strawberry Shortcake
What is the problem
with writing that was your greatest roadblock, and how did you overcome it?
Keeping myself on one story long enough to finish it. Now
when a new story attacks me (yes, that is what they do) I write down the idea
and tell it to wait in line with the others.

Auraria Longstreet stared into the gold-framed mirror hanging in the tiny,
church, dressing room. She hoped to come up with an answer, a secret way to
escape her fate. Instead, her image told the facts. She was to be married.
Today. To Thomas Garvey. And all because Mother lay so near death that her
weakened condition prevented even her attendance at the wedding.
Libby’s groaning sigh stirred the air in the claustrophobic enclosure.
Why did Mother’s dying heart have to sentence hers to a life with a man she
didn’t love? Libby pulled the lace hanky from her sleeve, fingered the
intricately initialed E, and wiped a
tear from her cheek.
With eyes squeezed shut, she searched her mind for the man in her
dreams. The one she’d imagined on countless, long nights. The one she’d dreamed
of under sun-filled skies in the garden. The one she desired to come find her,
speak life into her heart, and whisk her away to a life of adventure.
She sighed again. He only existed in her dreams. Her hopes had been
replaced by Mother’s pale face and gasping desire to know her only child would
marry into a prominent family.
