DOUBLE TAKE - Lynette Eason - One Free Book

Bio: Lynette Eason is the USA Today bestselling author of the Extreme Measures, Danger Never Sleeps, Blue Justice, Women of Justice, Deadly Reunions, Hidden Identity, and Elite Guardians series. She is the winner of three ACFW Carol Awards, the Selah Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award, among others. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a master’s degree in education from Converse College. Eason lives in South Carolina with her husband. They have two adult children.

With over forty books published, Lynette Eason has become well known for her adrenaline-laced suspense novels. In her newest work, Double Take, Eason catapults readers into her Lake City Heroes series. Filled with danger, mystery, and the perfect touch of romance, this chilling novel will have fans racing through the pages as they try to outrun a dangerous killer.

About the Story: Eighteen months ago, Physician Assistant Lainie Jackson was attacked and shot by the person who was supposed to love her the most—her fiancé, Adam. Although Lainie survived, she continues to be hunted by someone who looks like Adam. But how can that be since she ended up killing her fiancé in self-defense?

After being honorably discharged from the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Detective James Cross now works with his friend and partner, Cole, at the Lake City Police Department. When James is injured, he ends up in the hospital under the care of Lainie. As their relationship deepens, James is determined to help Lainie by finding out if the past has come back to haunt her—or if the recent attempts on her life come from a new threat.

Join Lynette Eason for another spine-tingling thriller, where time is running out and failure is not an option.

Double Take is the first book in the Lake City Heroes series. What was the inspiration for this series? I’m not sure I was inspired—more like I grabbed some writer buddies and held them hostage until we figured it out. Seriously, I have some great author friends who never hesitate to do some brainstorming. I did want the series to stay true to my voice and genre. With Double Take, I actually had an outline I wrote probably three years ago. The idea came to me and I jotted it down, but I didn’t really have a place for it. Until it was time to submit the contract for the next series. I went back over the idea, made some tweaks, and knew that it was the perfect first book idea for this series.

What is the connecting element between all the books in your series? The connecting element is the cast of characters and the setting. The stories are set in the fictional town of Lake City, North Carolina, about an hour outside of Asheville.

Can you please tell readers about your protagonists, Lainie Jackson and James Cross? Lainie and James have a complicated relationship from the get-go. One of her best friends is James’s sister, Stephanie, who she’s known forever. And Lainie’s had a crush on James for about that long. But she was resigned that he’d never see her as anything more than his younger sister’s friend, so when her ex came along, she was vulnerable. James, on the other hand, had vowed never to let his heart be vulnerable again. When you let people get close, they have too much power to hurt you. Then along came Lainie, and now he’s fighting to keep her alive and out of his heart all at the same time.

How did your characters meet? They’ve known each other since childhood.

Both Lainie and James are struggling through past issues. How are they able to help themselves while helping each other? Lainie and James learn a lot from each other. Honestly, James is the only man in the world who could win Lainie’s trust after her experience with her ex-fiancé. And she still has the occasional doubt. Outside of his siblings, James has never really had anyone stand up for him and tell others that he’s not the loser he sometimes feels he is. When he overhears Lainie defending him to his father, he’s a goner. And it takes both of them to catch a killer, so there’s that.

What are some of the main themes covered in Double Take? Some of the main themes include forgiveness, reconciliation, loyalty, second chances, and sacrificial love.

What do you hope readers will experience when reading your novel? First of all, of course I hope that readers love the story itself, that they’re thoroughly entertained. Second, I hope that the inner battles the characters face can somehow resonate with readers and draw them closer to the Savior.

Where can readers purchase a copy of Double Take? Reader can purchase Double Take at all online outlets, including most local bookstores.

COUNTDOWN - Lynette Eason - One Free Book

Bio: Lynette Eason is the USA Today bestselling author of Life FlightCrossfire, and Critical Threat, as well as the Danger Never Sleeps, Blue Justice, Women of Justice, Deadly Reunions, Hidden Identity, and Elite Guardians series. She is the winner of three ACFW Carol Awards, the Selah Award, and the Inspirational Reader's Choice Award, among others. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a master’s degree in education from Converse College. Eason lives in South Carolina with her husband. They have two adult children.

In January 2022, bestselling author Lynette Eason introduced the Extreme Measure series. Each book in the series delivered intense, fast-paced action that focused on four friends who met in a juvenile delinquency center as teens and banded together in order to survive. Now Eason ramps up the adrenaline once again for the riveting finale in Countdown.

About the story: Raina Price is living life incognito. In order to protect herself from a dangerous stalker, she had to change her name, her identity, and her home. With the help of her friend from juvie, Raina is able to begin life anew. She has a new job as a flight paramedic that she loves. It feels great to put her energies into saving lives. But it is hard to put aside the fact that her own life may still be in danger.

US Marshal Vincent Corelli’s job is to hunt down fugitives and protect those who are assigned to him. When Raina is almost killed in front of him, he is more determined than ever to save her and to find out who is behind the nefarious act.

Together they must work to solve the mystery of Raina’s past. But someone is determined to make sure that she doesn’t live long enough to uncover the truth. Can she trust Vincent with her past as well as her future?

Join Eason for a heart-stopping race against time in Countdown.

Can you please provide a brief summary of your novel CountdownFlight paramedic Raina Price’s past has marched back into her present—and it wants to kill her. A stalker who knows her well is determined to finish what he started, and US Marshal Vince Correlli vows to protect her at all costs—even if it ends his career.

Your female protagonist, Raina Price, has a secretive past. Can you please provide some insight about why she had to go into hiding? She made some lousy choices as a teenager. One of those choices led her to juvie, where she met the other heroines in the series, but one particular bad choice led her to get involved with a man who was a narcissistic sociopath. With this guy threatening those she loved, her only recourse, she felt, was to drop off the face of the planet and go into hiding.

Vincent Corelli vows to protect Raina at all costs. How has his job as a US Marshal provided him with the skill set to see this through? Well, that’s what a Marshal is trained for, right? Protecting those who need it? So, he simply transfers his training to Raina to keep her safe.

Countdown is the final book in the Extreme Measure series. What is the connecting element for all the books in this series? The connecting element for all the books is the four heroines who met in juvie as teens.

Will characters from previous books in the series make appearances in your new novel? They do. I always love bringing back previous characters and catching up with what’s going on in their lives. The readers enjoy it too.

Are there any threads that run through the whole series that will be wrapped up in this book? No, each book can be read as a stand-alone. All threads are wrapped up in each book.

What was the inspiration for this series? I have a lot of brainstorming buddies, but I have to give credit to my editor, Andrea Doering, for this idea. She threw out a little spark of an idea, and I managed to fan it into a flame that became the series.

Did you have a favorite character in Countdown? I really love Raina. She was terrified on so many levels but displayed such courage to fight back against her abuser and stalker. I respected her a lot and was thrilled to be able to give her a happy ending.

Countdown is set in Asheville, North Carolina. Why did you choose this setting? Asheville, North Carolina, is one of my favorite places on earth. I love the mountains, I love small towns on the outskirts of big cities, I just love it all. And I spend a lot of time there. So, I often set my books in the mountains of North Carolina.

What do you hope readers will gain from reading Countdown? I hope they will be thoroughly entertained for several hours, and if something in the spiritual element connects with them, then that’s always a wonderful thing.

How can readers connect with you? I’m on Facebook at www.facebook.com/lynette.eason and Twitter @lynetteeason and Instagram @lynetteeason. My website is www.lynetteeason.com.

CRITICAL THREAT - Lynette Eason - One Free Book

Bio: Lynette Eason is the USA Today bestselling author of Life Flight and Crossfire, as well as the Danger Never Sleeps, Blue Justice, Women of Justice, Deadly Reunions, Hidden Identity, and Elite Guardians series. She is the winner of three ACFW Carol Awards, the Selah Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award, among others. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a master’s degree in education from Converse College. Eason lives in South Carolina with her husband and two children.

Booklist has stated that Lynette Eason is a “master of inspirational romantic suspense.” Her more than sixty novels offer the perfect balance of fast-paced thrills with just the right blend of romance that keeps readers longing for more. In Critical Threat, the third volume in the Extreme Measure series, Eason ramps up the action once again. Readers will have trouble catching their breath as they plunge into a breakneck race to stop a serial killer

About the Story: FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn’t mean they’re not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer—in prison but certainly not out of Sam’s life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter’s MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They’ve met before—and though Grace thought they’d made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They’ll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case—especially because it’s about to get personal.

Buckle up for another extreme ride with USA Today bestselling author, Lynette Eason.

Critical Threat is the third volume in your Extreme Measure series. What inspired the idea for this series? Honestly, I never really know how to answer this question. I simply do a lot of brainstorming with different authors and friends, throw it against the wall, and see what sticks. There wasn’t any one thing that I can say inspired the series. Just a lot of great ideas during a brainstorming session that turned into this series.

What is the connecting element for all the books in this series? The four friends who all met as teenagers in juvie on the West Coast.

Your main protagonists, FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley and prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe, must work together to stop a serial killer. What is the relationship between them? Grace is a behavioral analyst. She’s actually also a psychiatrist but uses her skills in a somewhat different way than Sam. Their relationship is one of mutual respect, lots of attraction, and a desperate desire to find a serial killer before he finds them first.

Sam’s father, Peter, plays a key role in Critical Threat. Can you please tell us more about his character? Peter is a serial killer. He’s been in prison for a while, and Sam is very happy to never speak to the man again. Of course, as the story plays out, he has to not only speak to him but ask for his help.

Are there any particular themes that play out in Critical Threat? I think the theme of forgiveness is a big one. It’s one that tends to show up on a regular basis in my books. Maybe because I need it on a regular basis. And also, not judging people. You never know what people are going through, so it’s better not to judge based on appearance. Actually, it’s best not to judge at all.

You have several sources that you utilize to verify the accuracy of your books. Can you please tell us about some of your sources? I have so many wonderful resources, but two of my main resources are my FBI buddies. One of them is a former agent, who is now retired. He reads each one of my stories and gives me feedback. For the medical stuff, I have two physician friends; and for the military stuff, I have yet even more friends. Friends are a great thing to have.

That is so true. You have written over sixty romantic suspense novels. How do you come up with the ideas for your novels? I tend to brainstorm with people and see what works. My editor is a fantastic brainstormer—and she knows what she wants to buy—so I often hash things out with her too.

What do you love most about writing in the romantic suspense genre? That the good guys always win in the end.

Can you please tell readers when they can expect the final volume in the Extreme Measure series? Countdown, the final book in the series, is set to release August 2023.

How can readers connect with you? As always, readers can reach me through my website at www.lynetteeason.com, on Facebook www.facebook.com/lynette.eason, and twitter @lynetteeason.

CROSSFIRE - Lynette Eason - One Free Book

Welcome back, Lynette. Crossfire is the second book in your Extreme Measures series. What is the connecting element for all the books in this series? The books are all connected by the four female protagonists. They met as teenagers in juvie.

Your female protagonist, Julianna Jones, is a hostage negotiator. What event from Julianna’s past influenced her desire to work in this field? Julianna survived a school shooting where one of her best friends was killed. She couldn’t talk the shooter down and vowed to make sure she could help anyone ever caught in the same situation.

Clay Fox, your male protagonist, is working as a high school resource officer. But his skill set is far more in depth. Can you please explain his background and how that comes into play in Crossfire? Clay used to be a sniper in the Army. He’s was Special Forces, but after a betrayal that resulted in the death of an innocent man, he found himself unable to pull the trigger. He left the Army to take a position as a school resource officer while he figures out what the future holds for him.

What do you hope readers will gain from reading Crossfire? I hope they will be thoroughly entertained and that the characters will resonate in some way with them.

What do you love most about writing novels in the romantic suspense genre? I love that there’s always a happy ending. I love that the characters work hard to overcome adversity, learn something about themselves, fight for justice, and fall in love. In other words, I can’t pick just one thing that I love about the genre!

What are you working on next? I’m currently working on the third book in the Extreme Measure series.

How can readers connect with you? I’m on Facebook at www.facebook.com/lynette.eason and Twitter at @lyentteeason and Instagram at @lynetteeason.

LIFE FLIGHT - Lynette Eason - One Free Book

Bio: Lynette Eason is the bestselling author of the Danger Never Sleeps, Blue Justice, Women of Justice, Deadly Reunions, Hidden Identity, and Elite Guardians series. She is the winner of three ACFW Carol Awards, the Selah Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award, among others. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and has a master’s degree in education from Converse College. Eason lives in South Carolina with her husband and two children.

Welcome, Lynette, Life Flight is the first book in your new Extreme Measures series. What is the common factor that ties each of the books in this series together? The common factor that ties each of the books together are the four heroines. They were in juvie together as teens. How’s that for a teaser?

How many books will be part of this series? There are four books in the Extreme Measures series.

What type of research was required to portray both an EMS helicopter pilot and an FBI Special Agent? A lot of research went into this story. I have a cousin who is a flight nurse, and he was able to answer a ton of my questions. He said they were employed by the hospital that he flies for, and their base was also at the hospital. So I took that information and ran with it. As for the FBI agent, I have two good friends who are Special Agents, and they read each of my stories and fix all of the law enforcement stuff. Although, I will say, sometimes I take a little bit of author license to create an exciting read. So if a reader may say “They wouldn’t do that” about something in the book, well, that’s on me, not them! I really do try to keep it as accurate as possible—and think I succeed for the most part.

What is the setting for your new novel? Mostly, it’s set in and around Asheville, North Carolina. I visit Asheville on a regular basis because I love the area, so it was really fun to set three of the books in the series there. The second book is based mostly in the Charlotte, NC, area. I lived in Charlotte for a year, so it’s been fun to revisit familiar places. The two protagonists, Penny Carlton and Holt Satterfield, must work through several different scenarios in order to catch a criminal.

How did you come up with the plot for Life Flight? This question actually made me laugh. You wouldn’t believe the ideas I brainstormed and threw out before finally settling on this plot line. I shudder just thinking about it, since I was SURE that I’d never finish the book on time. But I did, thanks to some other writer buddies who let me bounce ideas and scenes off them. And I absolutely LOVE the cover. I’m excited for readers to get their hands on this story.

You have written over 40 books and have over 1 million copies in print. When did you first begin writing romantic suspense novels? I first started writing in 1998 shortly after my daughter was born. My first book with Revell was published in 2010.

What are you working on next? I’m currently working on the next book in the Extreme Measures series. The title is Crossfire and I’m really excited about this story. There will be four books in this series as well, so almost two down and two to go!

How can readers connect with you? I’m on Facebook and twitter and Instagram. My website is www.lynetteeason.com

Thank you, Lynette, for sharing this new book with my blog readers and me. You are one of my favorite authors of romantic suspense novels.

WHEN A SECRET KILLS - Lynette Eason - One Free Boook

Welcome back, Lynette. It's been a while since you were here. As an author, I know it takes a lot of people to birth each book. Who were the people involved in the birthing of this book, and what were their contributions?
Oh goodness, so many people. I’m sure I’ll forget someone, but I must thank my FBI buddy, Drucilla Wells, who read and critiqued the FBI procedural stuff. And Jim Hall, a police officer, who also read and critiqued the law enforcement stuff. Without them, there’s no telling how many errors would be in that book! So thankful God places people in our lives when we need them most! And of course, everyone from my brainstorming buddies to my editor, Andrea Doering (who is a fabulous brainstormer!) to Barb Barnes who makes sure all copy editing is done to a T. She’s fabulous. Who else? Michele Misiak who makes sure the books get all the publicity possible and Donna Hausler who is in charge of blog tours and making sure influencer copies get into the right hands. And I could really go on and on, but I’ll stop there. J

If you teach or speak. What’s coming up on your calendar?
I LOVE to teach. More than I like to speak, although I do that too. J May 19-23, I’m teaching at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. In August I’m teaching at the Catch the Wave Conference in GA and November, I’m teaching at the CLASS conference in Albuquerque, NM. These are some fabulous opportunities for people to come learn the craft of writing.

If you had to completely start over in another place, where would you move, and why?
To Panama. And I don’t mean Florida. It just looks so peaceful and slow paced. I think I would like a more slower paced life! LOL.

If you could only tell aspiring novelists one thing, what would it be?
NEVER give up your dream of writing no matter what anyone says.

You’ve been asked to be in charge of a celebrity cruise. Who would you ask to take part, and why? (AS in what program, singers, etc. [it doesn’t have to be writing related])
Singer – Mandisa – just love her. She has a wonderful testimony, loves God wholeheartedly, and has a passion for reaching other for Him. I just plain like her. Oh, and she has an amazing singing voice. LOL.

Karen Kingsbury – just because she’s so gracious, a fabulous writer, and makes people feel right at home.

Abby Scuito (however you spell her last name.) from “NCIS” – She cracks me up. I love her personality.

Jim Caveziel from “Person of Interest” – I just like looking at him. I’d put him in charge of security.

Would he try to kill her today?

            Probably.

Jillian shifted her carry-on bag, stepped off the plane and walked through the jetway toward the gate, her eyes scanning every face she passed. Yesterday, she’d called Serena Hopkins, her high school friend she hadn’t seen in ten years, and gotten an earful on the events of the past two months. Serena had warned her in no uncertain terms that Jillian was a target.

Jillian had almost laughed out loud. Being a target wasn’t something new to her. She’d been a target for the past ten years while living in California.

She’d just been a hidden target.

Until about two weeks ago when someone tried to kill her and got her friend and co-worker instead. She fingered the healing scar on her forearm as she thought about Jeff. The grief threatened to smother her, and she shoved it off with a vengeance. There would be time for grieving later.

Knowing they’d tracked her down after ten years of hiding, using a false name, and covering her tracks not only scared her down to her very bones, it told her two things.

            They were getting desperate…

…and it was time to fight back.
