A Letter From Sheila Walsh...
Fast forward to 2011 and I am still fascinated by these heavenly
creatures. Yet now as a grown woman and mother, I find myself amazed and a
little perplexed by what fascinates today’s modern little girl. Monsters,
vampires and wizards, oh my! It seems these fictitious other worldly beings are
now captivating their young minds and enveloping their young worlds. As a
parent, I wanted to create a new children’s book series that would put the spotlight
on a subject truly worthy of fascination....angels.
So I set out to develop a new character that young readers would
embrace and delight in, and out from my pen and from my heart poured a new
series, Gabby, God’s Little Angel. Gabby is an adorable guardian angel in
training who finds that she has so much to learn about taking care of God’s
children. Introducing your little ones to the very real truth that, “He will put his angels in charge of you...they will
watch over you wherever you go.” (Psalm 91:11 ICB); this delightful new
series was written to teach this comforting message in a way easy for them to
understand.
I am so passionate about teaching the little angels in your own lives
just how much God loves them. I pray that through my new little friend, Gabby,
they will discover
this truth and rest assured that He is always watching over them!
On the wings
of angels,
Sheila Walsh

Sheila, What was the inspiration behind Gabby, God’s Little
Angel?
When I became a mom
the greatest desire of my heart was to teach my son that God loves him and
watches over him all the days of his life. I wanted him to know that on his good
days and on his bad days, God’s love and faithfulness remains the same.
Then that big day
came when he set off for his first day at school and I was faced with the
reality that the circle of his life was getting wider and I couldn’t always be
there to watch over him. What became so clear to me was that God’s commitment to
watch over my son; to watch over all our children is so much greater than any
parent could ever offer.
What do you hope your readers take away from the
book?
There’s a lot of
interest in angels in our culture but so much of it is based on fairy tales and
not the truth of God’s word. In Matthew’s gospel he recalls a conversation
between Jesus and the disciples as to who is the greatest in the Kingdom of God . Jesus drew a child to his side and
said,
“See that you do not
despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven
always see the face of my Father in heaven.”
(18:10)
We live
in a crazy world but we serve a God who loves us and our children with a
relentless passion. What a gift to let our children know that they are never
alone, that they are always loved-that is a story worth telling!
How does this series differ from Gigi?
The heart behind Gigi
is to let little girls know that as they are right now they are loved by God and
are truly princesses because God our Father is a
King.
The heart behind Gaby
is to let them know they are never alone, that God and His angels are watching
over them.

My daughter & I loved all things Gigi. I can't wait to meet Gabby and introduce her to my daughter. Even at the tender age of 5, she's hearing things in kindergarten about vampires, etc. I agree that I'd really rather her hear about how God gives angels to protect and watch over us.

My grandson is only 15 months old but I intend to teach him that God loves him. I keep him every day while his parents work, so I have a great opportunity to do that.
