A Special Extra Post This Week - SAVE THE DATE - Lisa M Prysock and 11 other authors - One Free Book

Exciting New Release--: Save the Date

Welcome, Lisa. How did this box set come about?

Hi Lena! Thank you so much for having me on your blog today. Save the Date began with a friendly chat between myself and Jan Thompson, one of the other authors in the collection, about how many book covers we both collect for all of the books we’d like to write in the future.

After having a chuckle about our obsession with book covers, we talked about how fun it would be to grow a team of writers to make a run for USA Today. Since we’d been talking about book covers and romance and weddings, we talked about writing books that have something to do with a wedding dress somewhere in the storyline. I love all things fashion, and don’t get me started about how much I love weddings. Ha ha, okay, get me started. We can talk about it all day.

By the way, Jan has hit the USA Today bestseller list three times! In fact, several writers in this collection have hit the list before, which is way cool in my humble opinion. The writers in this sweet, Christian Contemporary Romance, limited time, anthology box set include, Hallee Bridgeman, Jan Thompson, Liwen Y. Ho, T.K. Harris, Kari Trumbo, Camy Tang, Dori Harrell, Jaycee Weaver, Marion Ueckermann, Shoshanna Gabriel, Chautona Havig, and myself, Lisa M. Prysock. Whether or not we hit USA Today with Save the Date, we are excited to have crossed the finish line and published this collection together.

What is the hardest thing about writing part of a collection?

For me, the hardest part in writing on any multi-author project is overcoming the objection of fear—fear that my book won’t measure up to the other talented authors I’m writing with on the project, whether it’s a series or a box set. You have to remind yourself that you are there because God opened the door and He believes in you. You have to remember that each writer is unique. On a Christian project, each one is divinely inspired in a unique way, as well. We each bring something to the table, and the more diverse we are, the better the end result. You also have to lay aside the fears, find your confidence, and believe in yourself. You’ve worked hard to hone your writing ability, and now it’s time to buckle down and reach for courage from within.

Do each of the books in this 12-book box set connect?

No, the books in Save the Date are all different. In this case, there is one book for each of the twelve months of the year. Each revolves around a heroine struggling to overcome the obstacles to finding her “happily ever after.” They have different tropes and settings, too. Each book also has a secondary thread of something about a wedding dress somewhere in the storyline. Readers are telling us they have strong characters, humor, inspiration, faith, and engaging storytelling.

My book, A Valentine for Veronica, will be the beginning of a future series, Brides of Distinction. Veronica buys a wedding dress even though she doesn’t have a boyfriend or fiancĂ©. To further complicate matters, upon meeting her arch nemesis from high school, now a world renowned photojournalist, Veronica agrees to have her wedding featured in a famous wedding magazine in just three months. Her pride won’t allow her to back out of it, and her biological clock is ticking anyhow. She needs to settle for a marriage of convenience, and fast!

Is there anything you’ve learned while writing in this box set?

Yes! I learned that life is short and we need to make the very best of the time we are given. While writing this box set, two writers passed away unexpectedly, leaving myself and the other writers in the collection reeling with shock and grief. Marion came down with Covid and passed away shortly thereafter. Then, before we’d barely recovered from this, Shoshanna suffered complications after a routine surgery and passed away.

We learned to dig deep and muster our courage. We reminded ourselves of our faith that God knows what is best for each of us, ultimately. We leaned on Him hard for the strength to cross the finish line in the midst of our feelings being tossed to and fro. Some of the other writers had surgeries, injuries, or loved ones going through challenging times. We learned to be strong and courageous in spite of all this.

We decided as a team to dedicate the collection to Marion and Shoshanna and donate a generous amount of the preorder proceeds to their families to help with funeral and medical expenses. We were not able to obtain the final copy of the book cover for the hardback or paperback we’d planned since Marion was also a very talented cover artist and our cover designer, but we were able to publish the eBook version.

We also believe these were the very last stories Marion and Shoshanna wrote. They would have wanted us to go forward and spread the gospel through publishing the collection.

To summarize, myself included, we all need to make sure we are staying close to Jesus. We don’t know how long our time on the earth will be. Make the most of our lives and every opportunity to share the gospel with our family, friends, acquaintances and loved ones near and far.
