Welcome back, Beth. Why
did you become an author?
I don’t think I had a choice, really. I loved to read and
the dream to write a novel was burning inside, all I needed was a way to get there,
which I found when I joined ACFW.
If you weren’t an
author, what would be your dream job?
Oh, great question. I have so many thoughts on what I’d like
to be on any given day, maybe that’s why I write. I can pursue different
careers through my characters. But I think I mostly lean toward science. At one
point, I wanted to be a marine biologist. In the end, and if I were much
younger, I’d maybe choose to work for NASA.
If you could have
lived at another time in history, what would it be and why?
Well, the world wasn’t the best place for woman until recent
decades! LOL And we didn’t have penicillin until 1928 to combat certain
illnesses, so thank you very much, but I’ll stay in the present. But maybe ...
maybe ... I’d enjoy the middle ages (without the plague) because I love castles
and knights and chivalry.
What place in the United States
have you not visited that you would like to?
My parents took us all over on our vacations, and then as a
professional I traveled to almost every state in the country. But I haven’t
been to Hawaii ,
and I’d love to see the volcano.
How about a foreign
country you hope to visit?
Love Scotland ,
Italy and Greece —would
love to visit.
What lesson has the
Lord taught you recently?
That no dream is ever dead.
Tell us about the
featured book.
Love on the Slopes is the second book in my Racing series for
Heartsong Presents set in New Mexico ,
the first being Love in the Air.
SHANNON DE CROIX HAD BIG PLANS
But a serious injury ended her dreams of making the nation's
top ski team. Now, with her handsome coach, Hudson Landers, at her side,
Shannon hopes to compete again. But though she trusts Hudson 's judgment, she wants to train
harder.
Sounds like a
wonderful read. Please give us the first page of the book.
November, Aspen , Colorado
Winning was everything.
Shannon de Croix stabbed her ski poles into the packed snow just in front of the starting gate.
If she placed first at one or more events at the Nationals, it would bump her up in the rankings. Just one of many stepping-stones to put her in line for a nomination to the U.S. Ski Team. A dream that had already eluded her for far too long.
Focusing on the downhill course ahead of her, she sucked in a breath, the scent of evergreens, winter and fresh-fallen snow filling her nostrils, exhilarating her.
Shannon had practically been born on skis. She
could do this. The downhill race wasn't anything she hadn't done a thousand
times before, but on other hills and in other competitions. The only difference—this
was a big race.
An important race.
